Welcome to the third article in our a five part series, covering all aspects of selecting the best blind type for your room and your personailtiy.

Question 3 - What type of window and installation situation do you have?

  • Type of windows and window frames

Most of our blinds ranges can be used at almost any window in your home no matter what window type you have.

Our Perfect Fit blind ranges are designed for use only on UPVC double glazed windows.

If you have a skylight window we have a specific range of skylight blinds for these. Do check this range to see if we make the blind for your skylight make and model.

We do not sell blinds on our website for roof blinds as roof windows are very tricky to measure for and we recommend you seek a specialised roof blind company to measure and supply these for you.

If you have triangular, circular or oval windows again you will need to seek advice from a specialist blind company for this type of unusually shaped window.

If you have inward opening windows or bi-fold doors contact us for advice on the best blind types for these.

  • Conservatories or bay windows.

We do not recommend the use of real wood venetians or faux wood venetians in conservatories. This is due to the extreme temperatures conservatories can experience which can impair these types of blinds. For conservatories we recommend pleated blinds, vertical blinds or aluminium venetian blinds.

For bay windows to reduce vision spots where the blinds meet at the corners we recommend real wood venetians and faux wood venetians, our aluminium venetians or a non-patterned roman blind. If you have a upvc double glazed bay you could also consider perfect fit blinds for your bay as this would make measuring and installing easier if these are aspects that worry you.

  • Fitting the blinds inside or outside of a recess and top fixing or face fixing your blind.

Any of our blinds can be installed inside or outside of a window recess. Many blinds look better installed inside a recess as the recess walls frame the blind nicely.

Most of our blinds come with universal brackets that offer two installation options. Face or side fix or face and top fix. Check each product for the type of brackets supplied. Further details will be on our specific how to fit guides.

Verticals and rollers are best top fixed, if you have the option, as this removes worries around clearance from any window handles.

If you have an unusual installation situation do email us for advice and send over photos so we can give you the best guidance possible.
